How to decide which to useIf you are in doubt, I strongly recommend you use zswap with disk-backed swap. It is much more tightly integrated with the rest of the memory management subsystem than zram, has much better heuristics around reclaim and eviction, handles incompressible data much better, and degrades gracefully under pressure. It also handles hibernation transparently. Disk based swap still has significant upsides in many cases, even if you have a lot of RAM.
