Hoare was keen to point out that he designed programming language constructs but never a full-fledged programming language, as he was (in his own view) not good at finishing up the details. For example, when he came up with powerful concurrency mechanisms (with CSP, discussed below), others turned the ideas into actual programming language constructs, for the languages Occam and Ada.
